The Weak Week Week LVI (February 18, 2001)

by Russ Beland
The Week in Loserdom:
Losernet was full of talk of ists and submarines, which don't appear to have too much to do with one another, but we suppose there are submarineists out there somewhere (most of them probably live in Japan these days). Also, TWW takes great pride in presenting another Weak interview. Read all about Chris Doyle. Here is just a sample of what Chris had to say about the Style Invitational. "I ...saw... her oeuvre... surgically repair...my...hog while...the full... minimalist, post-vasectomy...corpses...spit...cocaine." Oh and, yeah, as if it mattered, the Czar claims to be taking off till about Memorial Day.

Results of Week LI* (A kinda Ginger Nation)
Summary: Losers feared the Czar had a nasty surprise for them this week and fears were well placed. In TWW's humble opinion, several Losers offered entries that were good enough to print, but the Czar thought otherwise. In the "Told You So" Department, TWW had the following comments about the Ginger contest four weeks ago:

"...with really good entries few and far between.... TWW thinks this contest would have been better if it had been to have someone famous offer ideas about what Ginger should be. WWWW is that entries along these lines could prove fruitful.... Now we are faced with another contest that is somewhere in the poor range."
TWW notes simply that the only printed entry was from Al Gore.

The Siberian Express: All the Honorable Mentions should have been runners-up.

Score Losers: Lets see, everyone is right where they were last week except for Ervin Stembol, who's up three.

Week LVI (Overkill in Overdrive):
The Czar's parting shot is a fun little contest in the rich SI tradition. Thanks to Bob Sorensen for this one. (Private message for the Sorensens: If you are out there, reading this, please contact TWW ASAP. Your subscription is expiring and we have no e-mail address for you.)

The Weak Week Prediction: Well, with the auxiliary Czar and Uberczar judging things, who knows what we'll get. Not the TWW, that's for sure.

The Weak Week Word to the Wise (WWWW) : The last time the Auxiliary Czar got a chance to judge, the printed entries were, what can we call them, um, closer to tasteful. That's the best we can offer. TWW can, however, declare that it knows the true identity of the Auxiliary Czar and has already begun negotiations for an exclusive interview.

Russ to Judgment: On a one-seventeen scale, sixteen being best, Week LV gets a:

A good all-round contest with plenty of room for creativity.

How Cool the Drool: On a one-five scale (where five is a stuffed mongoose) this week's First Ladies Coloring Book gets a:

Sorry, but a coloring book just doesn't display well.

Next time: Get a Clue
Next time's next time: DC/DC Jokes
Next time's next time's next time: Fast pitch
